NEET Chemistry Tricks & Tips
NEET Chnemistry tricks & tips CHEMISTRY is the mostscorable subject in the entire NEET exam. That’s entirely due to the fact that the level of questions asked in NEET Chemistry is in the range of easy tomoderate. The probability of making errors in chemistry are considerably low incomparison to NEET Physics and Biology.
With a minimum effort and devoted concentration you can simply ace the subject.
Chemistry is divided into three sections i.e. Physical, Organic & Inorganic Chemistry. The questions asked from Inorganic are unambiguous. If you learned the chapters according to the question pattern, then you can answer those questions with accuracy. If you want to score well in Physical & Organic Chemistry for NEET then start practicing on a regular basis for these two sections.
You can go through the chapters grouped according to their sections and scheduole your preparation
NEET Chemistry Tricks & Tips
[Physical Chemistry]
[Physical Chemistry]
- PhysicalChemistry consists of theoretical part significantly and you will be presentedwith numerical problems in those areas.
- “SomeBasic Concepts of Chemistry" primarily deals with stoichiometric calculations,S.I system of units and Laws of chemical combinations.
- Thus repeatedly revising formulas and definitions will help in fetching full marks.
- InChapter -2, “Structure of atoms”, we need to focus on the properties ofsubatomic particles, Spectra and atomic models(theories) and some fundamental numerical problems dealingwith frequency-wavelength relation and Hydrogen spectra.
- “ChemicalBonding and Molecular Structure” consist of important theories which deal withbonding. Apart from occasional question in Hybridization and Bond parameters, italso includes questions from VSEPR theory, Molecular orbital theory and Valencebond theory.
- A comparative study of all the bonding theories in a tabular form will help in differentiating the ideas.
- In “Statesof Matter”, gaseous laws and graphs for gaseous laws need to be studied.
- In“Thermodynamics”, formulas and laws along with definitions for some important thermodynamic terminologies will render conceptualclarity, thus helps in cracking numerical section.
- Numerical problems in Equilibrium that focus on effect of factors like temperature, pressure, catalyst and volume needs to be understood.
- Inredox reactions, most of the problems are based on Stoichiometric balancing of reactions and cell potential table. A good hold of oxidation states of differentmetals and their position in the redox table makes these problems, a cakewalk.
- In “Solutions”,the Colligative properties and various solution based definitions need to beunderstood. Numerical problems in this chapter are also based on thecolligative properties.
- In Electrochemistry, special attention should be given to the concepts like NernstEquation, Electrochemical Cell and Gibbs Energy of the Reaction, Kohlrausch lawand Measurement of the Conductivity of Ionic Solutions. Most of the questionsfrom this chapter may be numerical.
- “Chemicalkinetics”, discusses about rate of reactions and factors that can be used tomanipulate the speed of the reaction. Calculation based questions areanticipated from this chapter.
- Surfacechemistry is a theory based unit. Thorough understanding about adsorption, catalysis and significance of colloidal solution may add 4 marks to your total.
- Chapterslike Electrochemistry, Chemical kinetics, Surface chemistry, Solutions and Thermodynamicsneeds more practice to eliminate unnecessary calculations.
NEET Chemistry Tricks & Tips [Inorganic chemistry]
- Classification of Elements and Periodicity shows how the elements are grouped and arranged in the periodic table. Visualizing the trends may help one to predict the nature of the compound or its properties.
- “Hydrogen”,delineates the properties and compounds of hydrogen. Tabulating different compound with their properties may give a clear picture about changes.
- “s- Block Elements” concentrates on the physical and chemical properties of the alkali and alkaline earth metals and its uses.
- “p- Block Elements” ( I and II) covers all the nature of group 13 to group 18 elements.
- “d- and f- block Elements”, explains and compares the two block elements and shows the analogies caused by poor shielding effect of 4f and 5f electrons.
- The above three chapters can to be scrutinized for the difference between them and their uses. These three chapters collectively carries 10 % of mark in NEET
- “Environmental Chemistry”, deals with the chemicals or compounds that degrade our ecosystem. It also proposes the counter measure to decrease, global environmental degradation.
- Metallurgy was necessary for growth of the Industrial Revolution. General Principle andProcess of Isolation of Elements explain the different process employed for the extraction of metals from their corresponding ores. A comparative study will aid for better grasping of concepts.
- “Co-ordination Compound”, accounts for 9% of total marks in NEET. Take a lot of practice for finding oxidation number, Coordination number, geometry and magnetic property of coordination number.
NEET Chemistry Tricks & Tips [Organic chemistry]
- In General Organic Chemistry, the reason for tetravalence of carbon and shapes of organic molecules, Nomenclature of organic compounds and different types of reaction are discussed. Don’t memorize the concepts it may led to confusion and increased complexity.
- Hydrocarbons are the compounds comprised of hydrogen and carbon predominantly. Revisit this chapter every alternate day and give yourself a test. This will familiarize you with the concepts.
- In “Organic Compounds Containing Halogen”, tabularize the properties and reaction for a bird’s eye view about the chapter.
- “Alcohol, Phenol & Ether”, gives some properties to the bonded compound. Knowing the reason behind these propertieswill set one free from the burden of memorizing.
- “Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acid”, are called carbonyl compound i.e. a carbon atom is double bonded to an oxygen atom. Each reactionis inter-relatable, so creating a mind map will help to master the reactions.
- Organic Compound Containing Nitrogen also known as Amines. Focus on the reactions and try deciphering the type of reaction or mechanism from it. This will etch the reactions in your memory which can be accessed later.
- Biomolecules:This chapter has more of a biological perspective to chemical compounds and molecules. This chapter has overlapping content with biology chapters like Genetic engineering and Cell structure. So, focusing more on biological amino acids, proteins and Glucose will help in fetching full monty.
- Polymers: this chapter deals with the different kinds of polymer, their preparation method and their commercial uses. So, create a flowchart that could lead you from one reaction or concept to other.
- Chemistry in everyday life: This chapter deals with drugs, enzymes and other commercially useful chemicals. Reactions and properties of diverse organic compounds those are useful in manufacture of commercially profitable compounds.
